The Tempest

In Autumn 2025, I played Prospero in a co-production of The Tempest between Shakespeare North Playhouse and The HandleBards. The production embraced The HandleBards’ signature blend of clowning, inventive physicality, and audience participation, bringing a fresh, mischievous energy to Shakespeare’s classic and inviting audiences to become part of the storytelling.

Lucy Green as Prospero manages to be both commanding and ridiculous, funny and pathetic, and almost all at the same time.

★★★★★ Northern soul

The petite Green infuses the middle-management magician with ‘big man’ energy in a toothsome and knowing performance that’s pitched somewhere between David Brent and the late Paul Daniels.

★★★★ Arts City Liverpool

…this show is worth a watch for Lucy Green’s performance as Prospero alone. She commands the stage with ease and delivers a masterclass in comedy.

★★★★ Theatre and Tonic
